Should I Upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D for Gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my CPU from a Ryzen 5 3600 to either a Ryzen 7 5700X or the 5700X3D. Currently, my setup includes an RTX 3080 Ti, 32GB of RAM, and I mainly play FPS games like Battlefield 6 and Warzone, plus I dabble in single-player titles and do some graphic design work with Photoshop. My 3600 feels like it's limiting my new GPU performance, so I'm looking for advice on whether the 5700X3D is worth the extra cost compared to the regular 5700X. In Brazil, the 5700X costs about £126, and I can get the 5700X3D from the UK for around £207, which is a £79 difference. Is the performance gain in gaming significant enough to justify the extra cost? Also, should I consider shipping costs from the US instead? Thanks for any insights!

I switched from a 3700X to the 5700X3D, and it was totally worth it! The 5700X3D will keep your GPU performing well for longer, especially with future games. Plus, with the extra L3 cache, it really shines in CPU-intensive games, even at 1080p.

Thanks a lot! I usually play optimized settings at 1080p, so this gives me more confidence in going for the X3D.

Yeah, I'd say that deal is worth it. The performance jump from a 3600 to a 5700X is about 20%, but going to the 5700X3D is a 40-50% jump. You'll definitely feel that increase!

Good to know! My 3600 isn't even the X version, so I expect a huge upgrade.

£207 for the 5700X3D is a solid deal! I'd grab that deal if I were in your shoes. I bought mine for a bit more last year. Just make sure to update your BIOS before installing the new CPU to avoid any issues. Plus, reinstalling Windows isn't a bad idea if you have the time.

Thanks for the tip! I'm leaning towards the 5700X3D now, but I'm also eyeing a PS5 for GTA 6, so the cost is a bit daunting at times.

In CPU-heavy games, moving to a 5700X3D will give you a noticeable boost compared to the 3600. It’s way better than the regular 5700X. However, the key thing to weigh is whether the 5700X3D is worth it against the cost of eventually moving to a new platform. Also, bringing it from the UK avoids heavy shipping taxes that come from ordering directly.

Consider how long you plan to stick with the AM4 platform. If you're thinking about going to AM5 soon, maybe save some cash and get a 5600 instead. They’re pretty affordable and would still give you decent performance over the 3600. But if you want to keep using AM4 for a while, go for the 5700X3D for better longevity in gaming.

Longevity is exactly what I’m after since the resale value of my current parts isn’t great in Brazil. I think I’ll hold off on AM5 for now.
