How to Fix My Gigabyte M27Q Monitor Stuck at 144Hz?

I recently put together a new PC with a Gigabyte M27Q 170Hz monitor and an RX 9070 XT graphics card. Initially, I connected the monitor using HDMI, but it was limited to 144Hz. I read that I need to switch to DisplayPort (DP) to unlock the full 170Hz. However, every time I connect the DP cable, I get no signal at all. When I power cycle the monitor with the DP cable plugged in, it shows a brief "HDMI 1" message for 2 seconds before disappearing. Does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this?

Try this: unplug the HDMI cable, connect the DP cable, and then set your monitor to the DP input. Sometimes, it needs a fresh start like that to recognize the new connection.

This might seem basic, but I had a similar issue with a monitor once. I just unplugged it from power for a few seconds and plugged it back in. It surprisingly fixed the signal problem. Have you given that a shot?

I can't believe that actually worked! Haha, thanks a lot!

Have you made sure to switch the input source on your monitor to DisplayPort? Sometimes the monitor doesn't automatically detect it, and you might need to do it manually.

I didn't switch the input! Just changed cables. Thanks for the tip!
