I'm looking to upgrade my PC, but I'm running into issues finding the 5700X or 5800X3D, as they're either unavailable or too pricey at around $400. Given this situation, I'm considering using a regular 5800XT instead. How much of a difference would that make, especially for CPU-heavy games like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024? I know it's not the ideal choice, but it seems to be my only option right now, and I'm curious if the 5800XT would still perform decently.

If the X3D options are too pricey, the 5800X is still a solid choice. I had my 5800X before considering the 5700X3D, and the performance trade-offs weren't worth the cost for me. I’d stick with the 5800XT until the next generation comes out, as it’s likely to outperform your current setup for the games you want to play.
I think it really depends on what you play. The 5800XT will do just fine for your needs, but remember, the X3D's extra cache is a definite advantage in CPU-heavy games.
What are you currently using as your CPU? That can really help in assessing the upgrade impact!
Honestly, the 5800XT is very similar to the 5800X, just with a tiny boost in clock speed. It won’t have the same gaming edge as the X3D models that benefit from the 3D vCache tech, which enhances performance in many games. But it should still give you decent results overall.
All these AMD options are solid for gaming! The X3D might edge them out a bit in certain scenarios, but the 5800XT will still hold its own for most titles, including heavier ones like MS Flight Simulator.
Ha! I'm on a Ryzen 3700 that's about 6 years old.
