I'm trying to sort out a message issue on my girlfriend's son's iPad. She set it up with his own iCloud account as part of her family group, but for some reason, her personal messages are still showing up on his device. We've double-checked everything that should be done to stop this, including:
- Ensuring that iMessage on the iPad is only using the son's account for sending and receiving.
- Confirming that message forwarding is disabled on her devices.
- Making sure Family Sharing is activated.
I even tried sending a message from the boy's iPad, which came from his account, but her personal messages are still appearing. I'm thinking our next step would be to disable message syncing through iCloud for her, but she uses Messages on her iPhone and MacBook, so I'd like to avoid that if possible. Is there anything else I could try to prevent her personal messages from syncing to her child's iPad? Thanks!

She should also take a look at Settings > Apps > Messages to ensure her number isn’t listed under Send and Receive on that iPad, even if it's logged into the child's account. It's strange, but I've encountered that before!
It might be a smart move to create a child account for him instead of using hers. This guide might help you out: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102617
That wasn't clear in my post, but she already did this. The iPad is set up under his child account that’s part of her iCloud family.
If she didn’t finish these steps before setting up the iPad for her son, that might be the reason for the issue. Make sure the iPad was fully reset before configuring it. Check this link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/109511
Good point! That might be an issue. I’ll wait to see if there’s an easier fix, but if not, we’ll consider erasing it and starting fresh.
We already checked that, and it only shows the son’s iCloud email. This is really a bizarre situation. Thanks for the suggestion!
