Should I Upgrade to the RTX 5070 Ti Now or Wait for Next Gen?

I'm currently using an RX 6700 XT paired with a Ryzen 7 5800X3D on an AM4 motherboard, along with an 850W EVGA PSU. I'm considering purchasing the RTX 5070 Ti for $750, which I found at Best Buy. However, I'm wondering if it's better to buy now or wait for the next generation of GPUs to drop. My current GPU struggles to maintain 60 FPS on games like Monster Hunter: World, and I want to play Battlefield 6, which releases later this year. I prefer gaming at 1440p as my monitor supports that resolution; playing at 1080p just makes the visuals look grainy. Financially, I'm fine but could use some advice on whether now is the right time to upgrade, especially since I'm unsure when the next gen GPUs will be released.

Honestly, if you feel your current setup isn’t cutting it for the experiences you enjoy, upgrading now is a good choice, especially with the 5070 Ti being a substantial upgrade for 1440p gaming. I had a similar situation and felt the 3080 was enough, but if I had a 6700 XT, I’d be itching to level up for sure! Plus, if it works for your budget, go for it!

I’m in a similar boat with my 3070. Trying to decide if I should just upgrade the GPU or overhaul the entire system.

That makes sense! I'm just waiting for confirmation that I'm not making a hasty choice. It’s tough deciding whether to pull the trigger or hang back a bit.

If you really can't wait, consider playing those more demanding titles in windowed mode on 1080p for now. It might help you get by until you decide to upgrade.

Yeah, but remember that the more powerful variants, like the Super series, might drop later this year with more VRAM. If you're really keen on future-proofing, that could be worth waiting for. Plus, keep an eye on AMD's potential responses in the market.

Why wait? The 5070 Ti is a significant upgrade, and you're likely going to see a major boost in your gaming performance. I upgraded from a 3070 Ti to the 5070 Ti and it’s night and day, even from your 6700 XT. Unless you're looking for something with more VRAM for 4K gaming, I’d say just go for it!

Thanks! How big of an improvement did you actually see going from the 3070 Ti to the 5070 Ti?

Just a heads up: the 50 series was just released, and the pricing is pretty stable right now. You should be more concerned about future price shifts rather than waiting too long. Most new game titles have optimization issues regardless of GPU, and the 5070 Ti will handle 1440p gaming well.
