Why is my iPhone constantly rejecting my password?

I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with my iPhone 15 Pro Max where it always tells me that my password is incorrect, even though I'm certain it's right. I've been able to log into my iCloud account online just fine, but for some reason, it just won't let me log in on my phone. This has happened several times now over the past year.

When I tried to trade in my old iPhone for this upgrade, I couldn't do it because of this same password issue, which even led to my old phone getting locked during the process. I eventually decided to keep it even after that.

Recently, the volume buttons on my new phone stopped working, and I needed to log in to turn off Find My iPhone to get a replacement. Despite resetting my password multiple times and even making sure I have the right one documented, I still can't access my old phone to wipe it so I can finally trade it in and reduce my payment. I've looked online and read that maybe I need to add a two-factor authentication (2FA) code at the end of my password, but I have no idea where to find that. Any help would be appreciated!

You're definitely not imagining it—there's a confirmed outage with Apple! They should really keep their system status page updated so users can be informed. Also, when you change your password, make sure to select the option to sign out from other devices; it might help resolve some issues you’re experiencing.

That's good to know! The Apple system status page shows that the outage lasted from 10:55 pm to 1:45 am CDT. Hopefully, they can identify the issue soon.

For your password, if this keeps happening, consider contacting Apple support while you're having the issue. It’s best to call them because they might need to verify your identity on the spot.

Just a quick tip: if you're using older devices, logging in with a 2FA code is a bit different. You enter your password, then the 2FA code on your second attempt, like this: password123456. But since you're on the latest iPhone, just focused on fixing the direct login issue for now.

It sounds like there might be a widespread outage affecting many users, including myself! I've had trouble logging in too, so you might not be alone with this issue right now. Just keep an eye on social media or forums to see if others are experiencing the same thing.

Glad to know it's not just me! Let's hope it gets fixed soon.

Exactly! I just got kicked out as well. There was a 2FA request from a site I didn't recognize last week, and now this login issue is freaking me out.
