Why is my new SSD not showing up during Windows installation?

Hey everyone, I recently bought an SSD for my MSI KATANA 17 B12VGK laptop. The new SSD is the MSI SPATIUM M470 PRO. I removed the old SSD and installed the new one, and it shows up in the BIOS with the correct 2TB size. I created a bootable Windows 11 USB using Microsoft's media creation tool, and that part went smoothly. However, when I start the installation, the SSD doesn't appear for me to select as the installation drive. I've tried several times and even recreated the boot USB, but no luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Before making any changes, always make sure your data is backed up. It's crucial! If you're not seeing the SSD during the setup, it could be a driver issue. Look for the necessary drivers on the manufacturer's support page and have those handy during installation.

Make sure to check the BIOS settings for your drives. If there's an option to switch from IRST (VMD) to standard AHCI mode, try doing that. Also, some laptops don't automatically include drivers for certain configurations, so you might need to download the IRST drivers and load them during the Windows setup when it doesn't show any drives. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I wasn't sure about the IRST settings. I'll definitely look into that when I go back to install.
