Why Does My PC Keep Shutting Down When I Launch Certain Games?

I've been having a frustrating issue where my PC suddenly shuts down without warning when I try to launch specific games, like Dead by Daylight and Into The Radius 2. This started about a week ago, and it doesn't seem to happen with other games like Backpack Hero. After the initial shutdowns, I've tried reinstalling games and even performing a factory reset, but the problem persists. I checked my temps, and they seem fine, usually peaking around 80°C for the GPU and 75-80°C for the CPU. I built my PC myself and have taken care of it, so I'm not sure why this is happening now. Anyone have any ideas?

I had a similar shutdown issue in the past, and it turned out to be due to a faulty driver update for my video card. I rolled back to a previous driver version, and it fixed the problem! Might be worth a shot if you haven't tried that yet. Sometimes recent updates can cause unexpected issues.

It could potentially be related to a compatibility issue with your Intel 13th gen CPU and your motherboard. Some users have reported problems like this. You could try disabling C-states in your BIOS to see if that helps. Just make sure to re-enable it if it doesn’t work!

Definitely check for any crash dumps on your system. If there aren’t any, you might want to configure your system to generate small memory dumps; that could provide more insight if it's a specific application causing the shutdown. Don't forget to back up your important data before making changes though!

You might want to check your PSU model and make sure it's sufficient for your GPU and CPU. Also, look into the GPU temperatures, especially the hotspot. If you haven't done so already, take a peek at the event viewer for any error messages around the shutdown time; it might give you some clues. Also, keep an eye out for crash dump files; those can be super helpful for figuring out what's going wrong.
