Upgrading Two Old PCs for Gaming – Best CPU and Motherboard Choices?

Hey everyone! I recently did a fresh Windows install on my brother's PC and realized that our setups are older than I thought. I'm considering upgrading both our PCs to 5070 ti builds since we primarily use them for gaming and streaming.

I was thinking about going with the R5 9600X paired with ASRock x870 PRO RS motherboards, and adding some new 850W PSUs to handle the power needs for the new GPUs.

However, I'm wondering if that's the best route or if I should consider the i5 13500KF along with ASRock Z790 PRO RS mobos instead. I'm also interested in any budget-friendly options or setups that might have better longevity, especially since I've heard rumors about socket changes for upcoming CPU generations!

If you're going to use the AM5 platform, you're in for the long haul until at least 2027, so that's a solid choice! Intel, on the other hand, tends to change their sockets every generation, which can be frustrating if you want to upgrade later.

Thanks for that info! I’m not in a rush to upgrade again soon, so having a longer-lasting socket is appealing.
