I'm running an RTX 4060 Ti, an i7-12000K processor, and 16GB of RAM on an ASUS motherboard, mostly playing Fortnite. Despite these specs, I'm struggling to reach even 160 fps in-game, and I notice drops down to about 90 fps at times. I'm on Windows 11, using a 165Hz monitor, with V-Sync turned off and playing at a resolution of 1920x1080. I feel like I should be able to achieve more fps. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure to check your system BIOS settings. Sometimes enabling or disabling features can optimize your performance, but be cautious because changes can affect your data. Also, have you backed up your important files? It's a good practice before making adjustments. You might want to disable Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) as that can also impact performance when gaming.
Not to be that guy, but does having higher fps than your monitor's refresh rate really do much? I've heard it's sometimes more about stability than just raw numbers.
Have you tried disabling some of the extra cores in your CPU (e-cores)? It might help with stability while gaming. You can park the cores via your BIOS settings if it's available. Additionally, disabling VBS could help clarify things; it’s designed mainly for security but can slow down performance.
Honestly, a difference of 5 fps isn't going to change the way the game feels much. But if you're noticing stutters, especially when near other players, that could indicate a problem. You could look into optimizing your settings or maybe closing any background applications that might be using up resources.
I hear you! I experience similar lag issues, especially in crowded areas in Fortnite.
True, but I've noticed lag spikes can really ruin gameplay, so anything that helps smooth that out is what I’m after!
