Need Help with My First PC Build for Gaming and Work

Hey everyone! I'm diving into my first PC build and could really use your help. I'm quite new to this and don't know much about the ins and outs of building a computer. My primary uses will be digital marketing (though I realize I could use a basic setup for this) and gaming, especially with titles like The Sims 4 (upgrading with expansions and custom content) and Paralives, as well as potentially playing GTA and some MMORPGs. I'm hoping to keep my budget around $2000 and would appreciate any suggestions or tips on what to change or how to cut down costs while staying with a white aesthetic, although I'm okay with a black monitor. Any advice on components for my build would be fantastic! Also, if possible, I'd love recommendations specific to the games I'll be playing like The Sims 4, Paralives, and MMORPGs!

Your $2,000 budget really opens up some solid options! For playing Sims 4, Paralives, GTA, and MMORPGs, I recommend focusing on a mid-range GPU like the RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT, along with at least 16 GB of RAM. While Paralives is relatively easy on lower-end PCs, a setup with 8 to 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 660 or better will serve you well. You could go for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an RX 7800 XT, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, and an 850 W power supply; all of this should keep you under $1.8K, giving you some leeway for accessories or future upgrades. Once you share your current part list, I can help you tweak things further!

Thanks for the detailed breakdown! Here’s my build link: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/katm28/saved/b6DrmG. Also, I want to make sure I stick with a white theme if possible. Appreciate it!

When it comes to your budget, a solid rule of thumb is allocating about half of that to your graphics card. If you're looking for a premium build, AM5 is great, but if you're trying to keep costs down, Intel can be a more economical choice. For instance, if you go with the RTX 5070, I put together this list:
- Intel Core i5-14600KF 14-Core Processor
- Deepcool AG500 WH ARGB CPU Cooler
- ASRock B760M Motherboard
- G.Skill 32 GB DDR5 RAM
Totaling around $1612.

If I stick to AMD, will I need to change anything significant in the build?

I checked out your build! I’ve got a slightly upgraded version with the 5060Ti which performs about 15% better than the 9060XT, and it’s $140 cheaper than your original parts. However, it does sacrifice a bit on aesthetics and uses a stock cooler instead of a dedicated one. Still, it might be a good trade-off, but consider sticking with a 750W PSU if you ever want to upgrade your GPU later on. Let me know what you think!

Awesome, thanks! I forgot to mention, I'm really wanting to maintain the white theme throughout my build. Thanks for the insight!
