Hey everyone! I'm trying to decide between Linux Lite and Lubuntu for my old Core 2 Duo machine that's got 8GB of RAM. I'm curious about which distro is actually more lightweight and might run better on my setup. Any thoughts?

From my experience, Linux Lite is basically Ubuntu with some apps stripped away. Lubuntu tends to perform better on older hardware due to its lightweight design, so I’d lean towards that one if you want to maximize performance.
I love Linux Lite, but if you're going for performance, you might also want to check out Sparky Linux or Q40. They can be great alternatives, especially for older systems.
Linux Lite uses the XFCE desktop environment, while Lubuntu is based on LXQT. Although both can run on your system, LXQT is generally lighter than XFCE, so Lubuntu might give you a bit of an edge in performance.
Both are good options! Lubuntu usually has a smaller footprint during installation and is great for older hardware. Linux Lite, while also lightweight, comes with more stuff pre-installed, which might make it feel a bit bulkier. If you're a beginner, Linux Lite is user-friendly and sets you up with applications right away.
That’s a fair point! I appreciate that Linux Lite is more beginner-friendly, but I still want to keep things snappy on my old setup.
