Thinking About Building an AI for Browsing Help—Is It Worth It?

I'm experimenting with a concept for an AI that could switch between browser tabs, track your activity, and assist in completing tasks without needing to copy and paste or rerun searches constantly.

Before diving in too deep, I'd love to hear from anyone who has used similar tools like Comet, Simular, or DroidRun. What did you find most frustrating about those? If you haven't tried any, what's keeping you from doing so? Also, I'd like to know your thoughts on how the AI should handle memory storage. Would you prefer it to save data locally to your device, or would you be comfortable with it using encrypted cloud storage? Lastly, do you think this would work better on mobile or desktop?

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable using an AI that has too much control over my browser. It just feels risky to me.

There are already tools like Perplexity Comet for this purpose. I just think this project might be a waste of time.

Honestly, I'd say skip it. We already have enough tools out there for browsing without adding another layer of complexity.

Last I heard, Comet isn’t even out yet. I wouldn’t write off your ideas just yet—it could still be valuable!

Honestly, I could really use something like this. Sometimes, I need a boost in productivity but it’s crucial that the AI stays out of my way and doesn’t mess with simple tasks. I’d prefer local data storage for privacy, but if cloud storage is encrypted and I can manage my data, I could consider that. Desktop seems better for multitasking, too.
