Looking for GPU Advice for My New PC Build

Hey everyone! I haven't built a PC since around 2017 and I'm looking for some advice on which GPU to get. My total budget is between $2000 to $2500, and I want to spend about $1000 on the graphics card. I'm curious if I should go for AMD or Nvidia. I'm mainly focused on playing games at 1080p and want the highest frame rates possible while keeping decent graphics, as this setup will be used mostly for competitive gaming. Here's the rest of the build I'm considering:

- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X 4.4 GHz 12-Core Processor
- **Motherboard**: Asus TUF GAMING B850-PLUS WIFI ATX AM5
- **Memory**: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36
- **Storage**: Crucial P3 Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD
- **Case**: Lian Li O11 VISION COMPACT ATX Mid Tower
- **PSU**: Corsair RM1000e (2023) 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular Power Supply

I'm also using an old liquid cooler for the CPU, so I didn't include it in the list. Any tips would be much appreciated!

If you're just focused on getting the highest FPS in competitive shooters, seriously consider whether to go for a 5070 Ti or an RX 7900 XTX. Both have their perks depending on the games you play.

I'd recommend the 5070 Ti over the 5080. They're easier to find around $750, and the performance boost from the 5080 doesn't justify the higher cost. Also, since you're going for gaming, why not consider a 9800X3D for the CPU? And I wouldn't reuse an old AIO cooler; something like an Arctic liquid freezer is affordable and performs great. Plus, a quality 750W PSU is plenty for your build!

Thanks a lot! I'm currently using an NZXT Kraken 240 mm from about 4-5 years ago, is that still alright? I see what you mean about the PSU, I'll look to swap it for a Gold 750W. I've mainly used Intel and Nvidia before, so this AMD thing is all new to me!

Good points there, but I'd argue the 5080 is worth considering for future-proofing!

With your budget, you can definitely grab an RTX 5070 Ti or maybe even the 5080. Both are solid choices that will handle games well.
