I'm planning an upgrade from my current DDR4 setup to DDR5, and I've compiled a list of components that fit my $700 budget while reusing some parts from my existing rig. Here's what I'm looking at:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B650M Gaming Plus WiFi
- CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X
- GPU: Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB
- Cooler: TR Peerless Assassin 120 SE
- PSU: Thermaltake Smart 500W
- RAM: Team Group 16GB (2x8GB) 6000 MHz
I'll be taking the case, SSD, and HDD from my AM4 build. If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears! I'm also considering just upgrading within the AM4 platform instead; I currently have a Ryzen 5 2600, B450M DS3H motherboard, 16GB of 3000 MHz RAM, and a Radeon RX 570. So, any thoughts?

That power supply is pretty iffy. You should think about upgrading it. Also, going for 2x16GB of RAM is better for performance in the long run.
Do you have any recommendations for PSUs that would be better?
I'd definitely recommend considering 32GB of RAM if you can swing it. It’ll help with performance, especially in gaming and multitasking.
I plan to get 32GB eventually, especially if I can score a good deal on used RAM later. For now, these 2x8GB modules are brand new and free, so I’m going with them!
I’ve had mine for around 6 years and it hasn’t given me issues, but I understand the concern. It’s actually from my old build. I’m just worried if the wattage will suffice. And I would love to go for 2x16GB in the future, but I'm getting the 2x8GB for free now.
