I recently came home to find a note from my internet provider saying they needed to replace my modem. I was puzzled since I hadn't experienced any internet issues. After contacting them, I was told to disregard the note because they likely visited the wrong house. However, I returned home to find another note and discovered my internet had been cut off. They informed me this was due to problems with my modem that could negatively impact my neighbors' internet service. I was surprised, as I've always paid my bill on time and thought my modem was still working fine. I scheduled a visit for a replacement, and the technician noted that my modem, which is 13 years old, should have been replaced long ago. My questions are: How can my old modem affect my neighbors' internet, and why did they take so long to reach out to me? Why not send a notice asking me to call rather than just showing up unannounced?
