Best All-in-One Printers for Linux After Upgrading to Debian

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my computer to Debian 13, and now my HP printer isn't working anymore. I'm on the hunt for a new all-in-one printer that can handle printing, copying, scanning, and faxing. My old HP model was the OfficeJet Pro 8710, and it could print around 1500 text pages per high-capacity cartridge. I'm looking for something that comes close to that and includes an automatic document feeder since I fax more often than I'd like to admit for a home user. Any recommendations?

Have you checked out the resources in the forums? There are some guides that might help you troubleshoot your printer issue with Debian. Also, it’s essential to try regular backups and experiment with new setups in a VM. It can save you a lot of headaches later!

I find it really strange that your HP isn't working after the upgrade. What specific model are you using? I have a HP Envy 5030, and it was recognized right away with Debian. Maybe it's a compatibility issue or a missing driver? Let's figure this out!

Yeah, I'd also love to know the printer model. It really shouldn’t be happening.

If all else fails, I set up a virtual machine to handle my old printers. I pass through the printer from the host to the guest VM, which lets me keep an archived setup that works perfectly. It’s not the simplest solution, but it works well if you're upgrading your OS often!

That sounds awesome! I used to work with VMs long ago, but I feel a bit lost with them now.

Is CUPS not recognizing your printer? That’s odd. If you're using the wireless connection, you might have to add it manually. Just remember to find its IP address first. It can be a bit tricky, but it sounds like a configuration issue after your upgrade!

Honestly, I’m not sure. If it’s the built-in app for printers in Debian, then no, it doesn't see it. I can't connect it wired either because of my room setup.

I’d recommend diving into why your printer has issues post-upgrade. It’s not typical for Linux systems like Mint to struggle with printer installations, as they often recognize devices automatically. Have you checked for driver updates?

I believe Python3-PyQt4 is no longer compatible with Debian, so that might be the problem you're facing.
