I'm likely heading overseas for university next year or the year after, and I'm really eager to have a PC for gaming. Is this doable? What type of PCs are ideal for students in this situation? I'm aware of mini PCs, but I'm not too familiar with them since I've mainly considered building a traditional desktop PC. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

A gaming laptop is probably your best bet for an overseas study experience. They offer good performance and they're portable, which means you won't have to worry about shipping or figuring out the power compatibility issues. If you really want that desktop experience, a small form factor PC, like a NUC or a mini ITX build, could work, but keep in mind that you'd need to transport it carefully and might have to deal with a different power supply depending on where you're going. If you have the desk space and don't mind the hassle, a mini ITX rig could also be a great option too!
But is it worth investing in a gaming laptop if I'm thinking about building a PC after five years at uni? That's what's holding me back. Plus, gaming laptops aren't exactly cheap!
