Why is my RTX 3090 showing such low GPU usage?

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my CPU from a 10900K to a 9800X3D, and I'm using an MSI RTX 3090 to game on a 240Hz monitor at 1080p. However, I've noticed that my GPU usage is sitting around just 2% when I play Battlefield 6, while my CPU usage hits about 75%. It seems like this upgrade hasn't helped my performance at all since I'm still only getting around 150fps like I was before. I also noticed that the NVIDIA overlay indicates my GPU is at about 90% usage, which contradicts what Task Manager is saying. Has anyone else experienced this, and what could be causing these low GPU usage levels?

If you’re generally hitting around 150fps at 1080p on a 240Hz screen, that suggests something might not be reporting correctly. Make sure you’ve got everything set up right.

I’m not getting 240fps; I’m closer to 150fps like I was with my old CPU. Just wanted to mention I have a 240Hz monitor.

If you're using Steam, enable the performance overlay and ensure all stats are active. It's possible that Task Manager is having issues, and this could also signal a driver problem that a DDU run might fix.

You might want to try using different software tools, like GPU-Z or MSI Afterburner. Task Manager isn't always reliable for GPU stats, and it could be showing the onboard GPU data instead.

I've definitely been monitoring the 3090 specifically; the onboard GPU remains at 0%.

Are you certain you're monitoring the right GPU? It's possible to be looking at the CPU's integrated graphics instead. Double-check that you're analyzing the right metrics for your RTX 3090!

I did check, and the AMD integrated GPU stays at 0%, while the 3090 barely reaches 2% during gameplay.

Did you transfer your boot drive from your old setup? If so, consider running DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to clear out any outdated drivers that might be causing these discrepancies.

Yes, I reused my NVME drive with Windows on it on the new motherboard. I haven't tried DDU yet, but I'm planning to.
