Where Can I Find Programming Jobs After Graduation?

I'm about to graduate as a junior developer and have spent the last three months applying for over 500 jobs, but I've only landed 4 interviews. Most of my programming experience comes from freelancing and self-study rather than college, so I'm feeling a bit lost. I've ruled out web, game, mobile app development, and machine learning for myself. I'm currently learning C and would like to know if there are good career paths in C development or any other programming-focused niches I should consider. Any advice for a newcomer in this job market?

Exploring C development could be a solid choice! Fields like embedded systems or areas where high-level languages fall short still need good C programmers. The challenge is getting in, but skilled C developers are in demand right now!

I recommend hitting up any job fairs your college hosts and networking with other students in engineering. Connections can really help in securing that first job. Just remember, AI isn't taking all the software jobs, but it can make finding junior roles a bit more competitive.

Why do you think you've got no chance in web development? It actually has a lower barrier to entry than you might think, but that also means there's a lot of competition. Plus, AI tools are rapidly evolving, making it tougher for juniors to get a foot in the door in that field.

From what I've seen, the sheer number of applicants for web dev roles is insane. I track it on LinkedIn, and there are often over a thousand applicants for single openings!

It sounds like you might want to take a closer look at your resume. Your college usually offers free resources to help with that, so it could be worth checking out. Just make sure it showcases your skills and projects well!

I get what you're saying, but sometimes people focus too much on their resume and forget about the bigger picture of job hunting. With so many applicants, including seasoned pros, fresh grads are facing a tough market right now.
