I have a pre-built Dell G5 5090 desktop featuring an RTX 2080, which is currently the maximum GPU that my power supply unit (PSU) can support. Unfortunately, I can't swap out the PSU since it's a Dell-specific model. I'm considering upgrading to an RTX 5060 with 8GB, as it draws even less power than my current RTX 2080. Do you think that would be a worthwhile upgrade? Or is it too risky?

Honestly, if you're planning to upgrade your GPU, I wouldn't recommend going with another 8GB card. The RTX 2080 and the RTX 5060 have pretty similar performance, and the 5060 doesn’t offer much of an upgrade—you're basically spending around $300 for minimal gains. If you want to stick with NVIDIA, think about the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB instead. It has a lower power draw at 180 watts compared to the 2080's 215, so as long as it fits physically in your PC, it should work fine. Just keep in mind that your motherboard might only support PCIe 3.0, which could slow things down. Honestly, even the 5060 Ti might not be a huge leap from the 2080, so weigh your options carefully!

So just to clarify, if the 5060 Ti fits, my PSU and motherboard should handle it? I'm not picky between the two—just need a slight performance boost without a full system upgrade. Plus, my RTX 2080 is quite loud and old! I'm using a 180Hz 1080p monitor, and I’d like the benefits of DLSS and multi-frame generation since my 2080 doesn’t support that.
