What GPU Should I Upgrade to From My RTX 2080?

I'm currently using an Intel 9900k with 16GB of RAM and an RTX 2080, but my GPU is starting to show signs of age. I'm experiencing artifacts and flickering while playing older games, and the temperatures are spiking to 80°C for the core and around 90°C for memory and hot spots, despite having good airflow in my case. I'm considering a new GPU that will work well with my setup now but will still be relevant when I eventually upgrade my entire system in a few years. I game at a resolution of 3440x1440px on an ultrawide monitor, and I have a Platinum-rated Corsair 600W PSU with 2x8pin power connections for the GPU. I'd like to avoid using the newer plug types due to concerns about durability. I'm hoping to find something decent in the range of 500 Euros—any suggestions on what I should consider?

You might want to check out the RX 7800 XT for a solid upgrade, but be cautious about your PSU’s wattage. If you’re looking for something with less power draw, the 4070 GTX could be a solid option while still delivering great performance. For a safer bet with your power supply, the 4060 Ti 16GB would match nicely with your 9900k and should work without issues.

But what about the RX 7900 XT? It seems like a better option for future-proofing, right?

I suggest checking the GPU hierarchy for a clearer idea of what you’d gain with a new model compared to your RTX 2080. Just be sure to keep an eye on local prices, as they can vary a lot. This can help you decide if it’s worth bumping your budget a little.

True, but I’d still like to know how much performance improvement I can realistically expect från the RX 7900 series.
