I recently made the leap from a 2060 Super to a 5070 Ti, but I'm still using my old R5 3600 for my CPU. I'm thinking about upgrading, but I'm unsure whether to go for the 7800X3D or find a more affordable alternative. My primary focus will be gaming with some light productivity tasks. I found a deal on the Microcenter 7600X3D, but unfortunately there isn't a Microcenter near me.

If you're gaming, I'd highly recommend sticking with the 7800X3D. It's one of the best you can get right now, and you'll appreciate the performance boost at high refresh rates.
If you're open to exploring past generations, the 5800X3D is a great buy if you can find it at a good price. Just remember, at higher resolutions, you might not notice a significant difference between newer CPUs.
Honestly, any basic AM5 CPU that's not the 8000 series should do the trick. The 7800X3D is solid, but there are definitely budget options out there if you're looking to save a bit.
You might also want to check out the 7700X or 9700X. They go on sale a lot and could save you some cash while still giving you a significant upgrade from your current setup.
I've seen the 7700X for as low as $220 on sale lately. Definitely worth keeping an eye out for deals!
The next best option after the 7800X3D would be the 9700X. It's a solid CPU too!
Agreed! The 8900X3D is also an option to consider.
