What to Do When Windows 11 Update Gets Stuck at 38%?

I'm trying to update my Windows 11 to the 07-2025 version, but it gets stuck at 38% and shows an error message that says, "something didn't go as planned." I've even followed a fix shared in the Microsoft community without any success. I thought the issue was with that update, but when I tried the new 08-2025 version, it does the same thing—briefly reaching 100% before failing. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Any help would be appreciated!

You might want to try resetting the Windows Update components. Here’s a quick fix: Press Win + R, type `services.msc`, and hit Enter. Find the Windows Update service, stop it, and then go to `C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution` and delete everything in that folder. After that, start the Windows Update service again and check for updates. This can often clear up issues like yours.

I tried the resetting method, but I'm still getting the same error too. It seems like a common issue with the updates lately. I'm hoping Microsoft puts out a patch or something soon to address this.

Just a heads up, messing with your system BIOS or disk settings can risk data loss, so make sure you've backed up your data. You can always check out the FAQ threads for more info on these topics.
