Is My BIOS Update Process Normal?

I have a Gigabyte Elite motherboard, and today I tried updating the BIOS to hopefully achieve more stable RAM overclocking speeds. I followed the usual steps: downloaded the BIOS, extracted it to a USB formatted in FAT, plugged it into the BIOS USB slot, and entered the BIOS to use Q-Flash. However, I notice my motherboard LEDs toggling between DRAM and CPU repeatedly, which makes me anxious. Is this behavior normal? Last time I updated the BIOS, it did the same thing, and I turned off my PC after about 20 minutes. It booted up fine, but the BIOS wasn't updated. I'm not sure what to do next. Should I wait longer, or is something wrong? I'm currently on optimized defaults with no overclocks. What should I try next?

Don't panic! That LED cycling is completely normal during a BIOS update on Gigabyte boards. It typically indicates that the BIOS is actively writing and verifying. Just hang tight and let it run for at least 15 to 30 minutes before considering any action. Look for a blinking Q-Flash LED if your board has one – that means it's busy. If it keeps cycling without any weird noises or error beeps, you're in good shape! Just be patient; it'll finish up and reboot automatically when done.

Thanks for clearing that up! I'm in a similar situation, and it's super reassuring to hear it's a normal process. I’ll just keep waiting!
