Hey folks, I recently got an MSI B850 Tomahawk motherboard and it's still sealed in its antistatic bag. While I was inspecting it, I was standing on carpet in socks, and the bag was touching the board. Now I'm freaking out about static electricity! Is it possible for an electrostatic discharge (ESD) to go through the antistatic bag and damage the motherboard, or are those bags supposed to protect against that? I've also heard that sometimes ESD can still harm components even while in the bag. If my motherboard did suffer any static damage, could powering it on later harm other components like the CPU, RAM, or GPU, or would it just not work altogether? I appreciate any advice to ease my mind before I complete my build!

Nah, you're totally fine! The antistatic bag is designed to prevent those issues, so it’s super unlikely that ESD would damage your board while it’s sealed in there. Plus, even when not in the bag, it's pretty hard to fry a motherboard just from static.
You're all good! That bag is built to handle ESD pretty well. Just make sure you avoid building on surfaces that generate static, like carpets. A wooden table is perfect! And while hair can carry static, it’s very minimal, so no need to stress about that.
