Thoughts on my new PC build for gaming?

I'm looking to replace my 10-year-old PC mainly for 1080p gaming, but I might upgrade to a higher resolution monitor later. Here's what I've selected so far:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
- CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360
- GPU: PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB Overclocked
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B850-PLUS
- Memory: Patriot Viper Elite 5 Ultra Gaming DDR5 RAM 48GB (2x24GB) 8000MT/s CL36
- Case: Montech AIR 903 MAX

I plan to use my SSDs from my old PC and a 10-year-old Seasonic X-850 PSU, though I might need to replace the PSU eventually. I'm open to suggestions on my selections and looking to avoid upgrading components along the way. I read that an X870E board isn't necessary unless there's a specific reason. Also, is my RAM choice reliable since it's the cheapest 8000 MHz option available and has a CL36 rating? I thought about going with faster RAM since I saw a video suggesting 8000 MHz is slightly better than 6000 MHz CL28. I picked the AIO cooler mainly for aesthetics, but beyond that, I'm flexible. Coming from an i7-6700K and GTX 1070, I want to ensure this build can handle games like GTA 6! Thanks for your input!

Actually, the 9800X3D is a top pick for gaming right now, and you could get a decent cooler like the Thermalright Phantom Spirit to save some cash. Your RAM is overkill for your current setup; you should aim for 64GB of slower quality RAM instead, which can be found at a better price. Check out options like the Patriot Venom 64GB 6000 CAS 30 for a smoother experience without breaking the bank!

Thanks for the suggestion! I totally thought I had it right with the 9950X, but I’ll stick with the 6000 MHz RAM instead!

You might want to consider an X3D CPU like the 7800X3D or 9800X3D instead of the 9950X. It's usually better for gaming and costs less. Don't forget to replace that PSU! Also, steer clear of that 8000 MHz RAM unless you're okay with potential instability; I suggest sticking with a 6000 MHz CL30 or CL28 for more reliability. B850 is just fine for your needs, so no worries there! Your case and cooling choices look solid, though!

Thanks for the tip! I may end up switching to the 9800X3D. And I appreciate the heads-up on the RAM!
