What to do if my laptop’s power button is broken?

I have an HP Omen laptop that I bought around 2021 or 2022. Recently, my power button stopped working. I've tried everything; pressing it doesn't do anything whether it's connected to the charger or not. Sometimes, it works after holding it down for half a minute, but it's been unreliable. Today, after closing it normally instead of hibernating, I can't get it to turn on at all. I know the battery isn't the issue because the "charging light" is glowing, and I've tried different combinations of buttons without success. I took off the key cover and it was a bit dirty, but I'm hesitant to clean it deeper for fear of causing more damage. Is there a way to fix this without having to buy a new laptop? I'm currently in need of it for my studies.

Is the power key built into the keyboard or is it a separate button? Knowing this can help pinpoint the problem better.

Try this: unplug the laptop, hold the power button down for 15 seconds, then plug it back in and see if the charging light flashes. That might indicate a debug code. You could also try pressing the Fn key along with the power button.
