Hey everyone! I recently got myself a Sony DVP SR760H DVD player to relive some nostalgia and watch an old show that's on DVD. I started off well with season 1, but when I tried to watch season 2, I hit a wall with the message "Playback prohibited due to area limitations." It seems to be something about the DVD player's region code versus the DVD's. What's puzzling is that both seasons are from the same region. I've looked into changing the area settings but my remote doesn't seem to have that option, and I've read that I can't change settings on this model. So, I have a couple of questions: Is there really no way to change the area setting on the Sony DVP SR760H? And are there any reliable region-free DVD players I can buy? I've searched online, but not much help in finding one in the product specs or descriptions.

Region-free DVD players are somewhat of a rarity now since DVD technology isn't as popular. If you have a locked region player, you're going to have a tough time with DVDs from different regions. It's possible that season 1 didn’t have the region code properly set, while season 2 does. Just check what region your player is versus the DVD, and if they don't match, you're pretty much stuck.

A workaround can be to rip the DVD on your PC and burn a new one that's region-free. That way, you can play it on any player!
