Hey everyone, I'm using Ubuntu 24 with GNOME 46, and I'm wondering if there's a way to minimize or maximize open windows by clicking on their icons in the Dock, similar to how you can do it in Windows with the taskbar. If it's possible to enable this feature in GNOME, could someone provide a guide? Thanks a lot for your help!

You'll want to check out the GNOME Tweaks app! It can give you some additional window management options. Plus, you can use the Super (Windows key) + H shortcut to minimize windows, and double-clicking the window bar can maximize them. But yeah, not quite like in Windows with click-to-toggle from the Dock.

To install GNOME Tweaks, just run this command in your terminal: `sudo apt install gnome-tweaks`. Also, you might want to look at the Extension Manager from Flathub for more customization options!

If you're looking for a more traditional experience like in Windows, I suggest trying out Kubuntu. It has a desktop environment that feels a lot more familiar and user-friendly, especially if you're used to Windows operations.

Unfortunately, GNOME doesn't allow minimizing or maximizing by clicking on Dock icons like Windows does, which can be frustrating. It's a feature that's missing compared to other desktop environments, including older ones like Windows 95! Just something to keep in mind!
