Is It Worth Upgrading to a 5800XT from an R5 3600?

Hey everyone! I'm considering getting a 5800XT for around $150 to use as a temporary upgrade for the next couple of years. Right now, I'm using an R5 3600 with a 2070 Super, and I play mostly at 1440p with 32GB of RAM. My PC has performed well since I built it in 2019, but I wonder if it's wise to make this small upgrade instead of doing a full system overhaul. I'm also planning to eventually upgrade to a GPU like a 5070 or 9070XT alongside the 5800XT. What do you all think? I mainly play CoD and will be diving into Battlefield 6 once it's released. I know the 5700/5800X3D chips are better, but they're hard to find for under $300. Would this upgrade make sense?

If your motherboard supports PCIe 4.0, the 5800XT will work fine with your setup. I have a 9070XT running on a standard 5600, and it’s great. If you were getting 80fps before at 1080p, expect to see something like 250fps at 1440p with the 5800XT! It won’t hold you back much at all, trust me!

I checked my motherboard, and it supports PCIe 4.0! That’s a relief.

That’s awesome! Sounds like you’re good to go!

BF6 will be really CPU-heavy, so it might not be a worthwhile upgrade unless you go for an AM4 X3D or make the jump to AM5. Just something to keep in mind before you make a decision!
