Hey everyone! I just got new parts to build my PC, upgrading from a PCIe 4.0 LGA1700 motherboard to a PCIe 5.0 AM5 chipset. I'm planning to use the same M.2 drive that has Windows already installed. Should I do a fresh installation of Windows, or can I just plug everything in and expect it to work? Would love to hear your thoughts!

It's kind of a toss-up. Usually, it should work fine, but sometimes it just doesn’t, so keep that in mind.
Definitely clean install if you're moving from Intel to AMD. You might face driver conflicts otherwise. If you're not up for a total fresh start, you could try the Reset PC option in Windows, but honestly, fresh is faster.
I appreciate all the advice! I think I'll go with a fresh install; it seems like the best move.
You could just try plugging it in and see what happens. Some folks have had success without any issues. But there's a chance you'll run into driver conflicts or bugs since you're switching to newer hardware. Generally, a clean install is recommended after changing major components like the motherboard.
You can technically uninstall all your old drivers and keep your Windows installation, but for a smoother and more reliable experience, you should definitely consider doing a fresh install.

That's definitely the safest option! Plus, a fresh install means no leftover junk from your old setup.
