Best Ways to Spend Birthday Money on My Low-End PC

My birthday is coming up, and I want to make my PC better since it feels a bit outdated. Right now, I have an R5 1600 CPU, an RX 6500 XT GPU, and 16GB of DDR4 3000 RAM. I'm thinking about using my birthday money, which is around 450 euros (might stretch it a bit), to buy a new GPU to enhance my gaming experience, especially since I want to play VR games and get better performance in GPU-heavy games. Does this sound like a good plan? Any advice on what I should buy?

Before you dive into a new GPU, consider how much your CPU holds back your performance. The R5 1600 is decent, but you could look for a used 5600X as an upgrade, which shouldn’t cost you much, then use the rest on the GPU. Just make sure your motherboard supports it!

Yeah, that’s a solid point! But I’d prioritize the GPU if you want to game more effectively in VR.

Sounds like a GPU upgrade is the way to go! I'd check out the prices for the 9060 XT 16GB in your area to see if it fits your budget. If that's out of reach, a used RTX 2080 could be a decent alternative in the second-hand market. Getting a solid GPU will definitely boost your VR gaming experience! Good luck!

9060 XT 16GB is about 410 euros for me, which seems like a good deal!
