Can I use more than 64GB of RAM in a dual-slot motherboard?

I have a super small form factor PC with a compact motherboard that only has two DDR4 RAM slots. Right now, I'm looking to upgrade from my existing 64GB of RAM to 128GB or more. However, I'm struggling to find options above this limit. Am I just looking in the wrong places? Also, I need the RAM to be a lower profile due to the height constraints of my case.

Unfortunately, DDR4 RAM doesn't have 64GB sticks readily available for consumer setups. You're likely limited to 32GB per DIMM unless you go for server-grade registered ECC memory, which most consumer motherboards don't support.

There are 64GB DDR4 sticks available, but these are primarily ECC modules. You might find some options out there, but keep in mind compatibility issues with consumer-grade setups. You could check sites like Newegg for these options.

Would switching to ECC memory be a good idea? Any compatibility concerns using two single sticks?
