Help! My New PC is Randomly Restarting – Any Ideas?

Hey there! I'm really struggling with my new PC build and could use some advice. Here's what I'm working with:

- **GPU**: MSI GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB VENTUS 2X PLUS (GDDR7)
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
- **Motherboard**: MSI X670E GAMING PLUS WIFI
- **RAM**: T-Force 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL30
- **PSU**: Corsair RM850x (850W, Gold)

The big issue is that my system keeps rebooting randomly without throwing any BSOD errors. At first, I thought it was a GPU problem, so I swapped it out, but the problem persisted. I tried a different PCIe slot which worked for a bit, then changed the motherboard altogether. Initially, everything seemed fine after that, but once I updated the BIOS, the reboots started again. I also tested it with a known good PSU and the issue continues.

Things I've tried include:
- Swapping out the GPU
- Using different PCIe slots
- Changing the motherboard
- Updating BIOS and drivers
- Trying another PSU
- Monitoring temperatures (which are all normal)

I have a few questions:
1. Could it be a RAM or XMP issue?
2. What diagnostics should I run (like MemTest, OCCT, checking Event Viewer logs, etc.)?
3. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with AM5 builds, especially post-BIOS update?

Any guidance from fellow builders would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your system is rebooting and going straight back to Windows, right? The timing of the reboots can give clues for troubleshooting. Since you've ruled out the PSU, it’s likely an issue with either the RAM or CPU. I’d recommend checking the Event Viewer for any WHEA errors. Running tests with OCCT for CPU and RAM could be helpful too. Also, try using a single stick of RAM in the second slot, both with and without EXPO enabled. It might be a bad RAM stick or something to do with the CPU's IMC. Lastly, ensure there’s nothing that could be causing a short, like misconnected power/reset button connectors or something touching the back of the motherboard.

Thanks for the insights! I'll dive into the Event Viewer and try the RAM tests you mentioned. I'll keep you posted on what I find out!

I found it interesting that it seemed to run fine until the BIOS was updated. Changing the GPU slot also temporarily helped, right? Maybe it’s more related to the BIOS settings.

Yeah, definitely odd how it worked before the update. I've got some tests to run, and I'll experiment with the GPU slots again.
