Do I need a new power supply for my PC build?

I'm in the process of building a new PC and was originally planning to use my old power supply (PSU) as a temporary solution until I can get my GPU and SSD. However, I'm facing some issues: the cables from my old PSU aren't compatible with my new motherboard (Gigabyte Eagle B850), which requires both a 4-pin and an 8-pin connection, while my old motherboard only used two 4-pin connectors. I'm also struggling with figuring out how to connect the PSU to my case. My friends are not helping much and are making fun of me for this, which is really discouraging. Can anyone give me some advice or recommendations for a new PSU, preferably under £100? Here are my planned specs: Ryzen 7 7800x3d, 16GB RX9060, Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5, and Peerless Assassin 120 SE CPU cooler.

You should be able to run your motherboard with just the 8-pin connection; the 4-pin isn't necessary for most builds. I recommend looking for a PSU that meets your wattage needs—around 650W is a good start, and you can usually find something decent for around £50. If you can, consider getting a 750W because the price difference is usually minimal. Check local shops or online for sales!

No need for name-calling; it happens to the best of us! Just jot down your PSU specs next time. If I recall correctly, you mentioned having a Seagate S12 with 550W, which may be limiting depending on your new components. You might want to upgrade it. Also, remember you don't connect your case directly to the PSU; things like fans connect to the motherboard's headers, and front panel connectors go there too. If you're unclear about which cables go where, don't hesitate to check video guides online—they can be super clear!

That's helpful, thanks! I'll look for some guides to help with the connections. Appreciate it!
