Why won’t my PC detect my microphone properly?

Hey everyone,

I'm having a frustrating issue where my PC fails to pick up any audio input from my microphones. Whenever I connect one, I just get a lot of white noise instead of my voice. Even when I'm muted, the audio levels still fluctuate, and none of my apps recognize it—I'm completely mute on them. I've tried several headsets, so it's definitely not just a single faulty device. I've even updated my motherboard's drivers, but nothing seems to work. I'm still able to hear audio just fine, though. So, is this a problem with my hardware or software, and what steps can I take to resolve it?

I'm using a B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC motherboard and have tested with a Corsair (aux), Skullcandy (aux), and a generic USB mic that usually works just fine.

Have you tried testing both the front panel and rear audio jacks? Sometimes the problem lies with the specific jack you’re using rather than the microphones themselves. Just to confirm, does it happen on both?

Yeah, I’ve tried both the front and rear jacks.
