I have an old laptop running Windows 7 with these specs: Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo, 2 cores, and 2GB of RAM. I'm looking for suggestions on the best Linux distribution I can install on it. Any recommendations?

Definitely check out antiX or EasyOS; both are designed to be lightweight and should work fine on your laptop.

If you can't upgrade your RAM, here are some lightweight distros to try, listed from the most lightweight:

1. Alpine Linux
2. Artix Linux
3. Arch Linux
4. Debian

Most distros these days can run on older machines that could handle Windows 7 and even back to Windows 3. If you're new to Linux, I'd suggest starting with Linux Mint or Ubuntu—they're popular picks. You could also try several from a live USB to see what you like best!

If you're able to upgrade the RAM, bumping it up to 4GB would really help. Most recent distributions should work well with that setup and it won't cost a lot. If your laptop supports more than 4GB, definitely consider getting a larger RAM module!

Also, MX Linux or Zorin Lite are solid choices for older laptops. They tend to run pretty smoothly and have user-friendly interfaces!

It really depends on personal preference, but I'm a huge fan of Fedora! I recommend trying one of the lightweight Fedora Spins, like Fedora XFCE. It's a great option for older hardware.
