Why is my new GPU making games laggy?

I'm having issues with performance after upgrading my GPU. No matter which game I play, it feels sluggish. For instance, in Helldivers 2, I'm getting only about 35 FPS on my ship, dropping to 7 FPS when I'm dropping down in the pod, and around 30 FPS in matches—going down to about 20 FPS when there's a lot happening on screen. My CPU usage is around 20-28% and the GPU is about 25%. This feels off, especially since I've just switched from a GTX 1660 to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 and also upgraded my CPU from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 5 5600X. I've tinkered with the Nvidia settings but didn't see any change. Everything is set to high graphics preset. Here are my specs:

- Motherboard: MPG X570 GAMING PLUS
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2x8GB)
- PSU: Corsair RM850x 80 Plus Gold 850W Fully Modular Power Supply

If anyone has suggestions or needs more info, please let me know! Thanks.

Have you enabled XMP in your BIOS? That can help improve performance. However, just a heads up, if you faced issues with crashes when starting HD2 after enabling it, that might indicate some instability in your RAM settings.

I tried enabling XMP, but every time I launched HD2, my PC would turn off.

It might be worth updating your BIOS and all relevant drivers as well. Also, since you have 16GB of RAM, consider upgrading to 32GB if problems persist; it can make a big difference in certain games.

Check if Resizable BAR (ReBAR) is enabled in your BIOS. Since you upgraded from a GTX which doesn't support ReBAR to an RTX, this could be affecting your performance.

I'll check that and see if enabling it helps.

If it's already enabled, then we might have to look at other settings.

Is this lag only happening in Helldivers 2 or in other titles too? It seems like the recent updates for HD2 have caused some strange performance issues for a lot of players. I've heard that games using Unreal Engine can be particularly buggy at times.

It's pretty much across the board. Even games like Battlefield are nearly unplayable for me, and I noticed lag in Terraria too, which is weird. I feel like my settings might need a closer look.

Did you make sure to uninstall the previous graphics driver and install the latest one for your new GPU? It's a common oversight that can really cause performance issues.

I reset my PC after getting the new GPU, and just updated the drivers today since I hadn't done it for a while.
