I've started using my car's CD player again after not using it for a while. I burned a few CDs from my collection, but after just three days, I've noticed the CDs are skipping. Upon inspection, I found they have a similar pattern of scratches. This has happened to multiple CDs. I'm driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport and I really need some help figuring out what's going on and how to fix this!

It sounds like there might be a problem with your CD player. A few things could be causing the scratches: the spindle motor might be failing, the laser lens could be dirty, or something else could be wrong with the player itself. You should also consider how you're storing your CDs. If they’re in an album, be careful while taking them in and out—those actions can cause scratches. If they're in jewel cases, make sure they’re securely fitted. Something’s definitely off if the same pattern of scratches keeps appearing!
Streaming music on your phone is a great alternative! However, I know some places have strict laws about using phones while driving, and that can make it tricky. It’s funny how juggling CDs is considered safer than selecting songs on a phone. Still, you could consider getting a Bluetooth adapter for your car if you're looking to go hands-free!
I agree with what TechSavvy99 said! It could be an issue with your CD player, or it might just be how you’re handling the CDs. If the player is the culprit, it's worth considering a replacement instead of paying for repairs—tech tends to be cheaper to replace. You could also think about other music options that won’t scratch up your discs.
Have you checked the dust guard inside the CD slot? Sometimes these guards can get damaged or stuck, especially if they’re made of felt with a metal brace. If it's not working properly, it could definitely scratch your CDs. You might want to inspect or clean that part.

Yeah, that’s the reason I started using CDs again! It’s a bit of a hassle, but at least I can control it without breaking any laws.
