Can I Install Linux on My HP Laptop Without a USB Drive?

I recently got an HP laptop, but after it updated to Windows 11, it started bluescreening. I've used Linux before and found it to be lighter on resources, which is what I need for browsing and using a few apps like RPG Maker and GIMP. However, all my USB drives are packed away in storage, and I'm left with my laptop, an iPad, and an Android phone. Is there a way to switch my laptop to Linux without needing a thumb drive? I'm really fed up with Windows now, and I want a solution fast!

Another option is to use your existing bootloader to install Linux directly, but it's not the easiest route. I’d recommend sticking with a USB or DVD just to avoid complications.

Honestly, just grab a USB stick. They're super cheap—like $3 for a pack. There's really no magic here. You'll probably have one ordered and delivered before you get any useful answers!

Windows has features for self-reinstallation now that might help you. Check those out; you might not even need a drive!

If you have an external DVD writer, you can burn a Linux LiveCD to a disc and boot from that. It's a reliable way to install without a USB!

You could also create a new partition on your drive and install Linux on that. It might require some juggling, but it's doable! Just be careful with Windows alternatives. If you use something like VMware, make sure you set it up right.
