Hey everyone! I'm managing a café and we recently stumbled upon a serious issue. One of our employees has been diverting customer payments to their own account by tricking customers into using Bizum, which is a bank-to-bank payment feature within their banking apps. While it's quite easy to block PayPal on our network, Bizum poses a challenge since it's integrated in the banking app we don't want to block entirely. We still want customers to access the necessary features of their banking apps. Our café is located in a huge basement, where only Wi-Fi access is available. So, what steps can we take to specifically block Bizum while keeping everything else intact? I've heard about using firewalls, but I'm not sure how to proceed without blocking the whole app.

So, have you considered that even if you block Bizum, the employee could just switch to another network, like a mobile hotspot? Locking down the settings on the devices your employees use could help, along with making sure your Wi-Fi security is tight. Also, maybe think about installing software that monitors transactions for any suspicious activity.
Firing the employee was a solid move! But if you want to prevent this from happening again, you might want to look into some advanced firewall options. An enterprise-grade firewall like Fortigate or Palo Alto can help you selectively block specific apps without shutting down everything else. It’s definitely worth contacting the bank as well for additional support on this matter.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely look into those firewall options.
If this happened on video, it might be worth it to consult with a lawyer about the theft. As for your network issue, yes, a firewall can block specific apps, but figuring out what you want to block and allowing customer access is key. It sounds tricky but it’s doable!
Thanks for the advice! We'll have to review that footage and see how we can proceed.

Good point! I hadn’t thought about a hotspot. We’ll look into enhancing our security measures too.
