My Gaming Laptop’s Performance Took a Nosedive—What Can I Do?

Hey everyone, I need some serious advice on fixing my laptop's performance. About three years ago, I bought an MSI Vector GP66, and it was amazing at first—getting around 170 fps on games like COD BO3 at max settings without any crashes. However, things have gone downhill lately. After reinstalling BO3, I'm only getting 30-40 fps, even on the lowest settings! Ableton often crashes mid-song, and I can't even play older games like GMod without performance issues. Plus, Dead by Daylight keeps bluescreening my computer. I took it to Best Buy, but they tried to steer me away from thermal repasting. Is a factory reset worth it, or do I just need to buy a new computer?

It sounds like your laptop might be struggling with overheating. If your operating system is bloated, a reinstall could clean things up and help performance. Have you checked your CPU and GPU temperatures? Ideal temps for gaming should generally stay under 90°C. If they're too high, thermal paste might indeed help.

Best Buy mentioned your fans are fine, right? Maybe they can still do the thermal repaste for you?
