Is It Possible to Switch to Linux as a Complete Beginner?

Hey everyone! I've been considering making the switch to Linux because honestly, I'm not too happy with Microsoft anymore. One of my main concerns was gaming, but I hear that's getting better on Linux. The catch is, I don't have any coding experience or knowledge about using the command line (is that what it's called?). Can I just jump into Linux, or should I learn a bit beforehand? I'm thinking of starting with Linux Mint since it's said to be user-friendly for beginners.

Today's Linux distros are pretty intuitive and a lot can be done without ever touching the terminal. Just download games from platforms supported on Linux. Check out ProtonDB to see how your favorite games run on Linux. You'll have a learning curve, but it’s totally manageable!

Thanks for the tip! I'll check out ProtonDB.

Before making any changes, don’t forget to back up your important files to avoid any losses during the installation process. It’s a good precaution to have!

You can definitely give it a shot! I started with dual booting just in case I needed Windows. It took me a while to get used to but now I hardly ever boot into Windows. Just keep in mind you'll encounter some bumps along the way, and that's okay!

Dual boot might be a good idea! I’ll consider that.

Absolutely! You don’t need a background in coding. Everyone starts somewhere, and you’ll pick things up as you go. Linux Mint is a solid choice for beginners. Just dive in and you’ll be surprised how quickly you adapt.

If you're worried about compatibility, you could create a bootable USB with Linux Mint using Ventoy. This way, you can run it live and see how it works with your hardware without making changes to your current system. If you like it, installing it is super easy!
