Can a 50 Series Graphics Card Work on a PCIe 4.0 Motherboard?

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my PC but still have my trusty 1070Ti hanging in there. I ended up getting a PCIe 4.0 motherboard thinking I'd buy a 4070, but now it seems like those are hard to find, and I've seen mostly 4060s and 50 series cards available. I've heard some people mention that a PCIe 4.0 motherboard could work with a 50 series card but might lose some performance. Is that true? I really don't want to swap out my motherboard again so soon, and I'm not into buying used parts. Any insights would be super helpful!

You’re good to go! PCIe 4.0 will work fine with any current GPU, including the 5090. Check out some benchmarks, and you’ll see that the performance hit is practically negligible. Here’s a couple of links for proof if you want more info!

That’s such a relief, thank you for verifying!
