Is the Ryzen 7 5700X3D a Good Buy at €280?

I've got a Ryzen 5 3600 and an RTX 2060, currently gaming at 1080p. I'm planning on upgrading to an RTX 5070 Ti and a new 1440p monitor soon. Should I go for the Ryzen 7 5700X3D for around €280, or should I make the jump to AM5? The 5700X3D would let me skip AM5 and go straight to AM6 later on. I'm mainly looking to play BF6 and other FPS games with a high refresh rate monitor (144 Hz and above). What do you all think? Thanks!

If you’ve got an AM4 setup, maybe consider snagging a used 3D chip instead.

That’s a tough call on the price. If you’re in the EU, you can grab a 7500F for around €135, which is just as fast in games and leaves you cash for a decent motherboard. Plus, you’ll need DDR5 RAM for that setup. The 5700X3D was around €220 last year, so I find it hard to justify the current price hike.

But if you buy the 5700X3D now, you could bypass AM5 and wait for AM6—could be a solid long-term strategy.

I snagged mine for €199 last September, and some folks even got it cheaper through Ali Express. Just a thought!

No way I’d grab one now; those were €200 before, and it’s just not worth it anymore.

That €280 price tag is up about €80 from what it used to be. I’ve seen some going for €315 or more now, so it really depends on what the AM5 upgrade would cost versus the 5700X3D.

Yeah, I’ve got one, and it performs great, but the price increase does make it a bit less appealing.

Honestly, I’d recommend going for AM5. The 5700X3D, 7500F, and 7600 have pretty similar performance, so saving for a newer platform could be wiser in the long run. Plus, you'd have access to newer technologies.

If you're into highly optimized shooters like CS2, though, the 5700X3D might still be a better performance choice.

I heard they might have discontinued it—what’s going on with stock?

Where on earth can you find a 5700X3D for under €300? I’m seeing them for €400 everywhere.

If you have a 5700X3D, now's actually a great time to sell, if you’re looking to upgrade.

Wait, is the R7 5700X3D really better than the R5 9600X for the price? I thought the R5 was a solid option!

Honestly, I’d just save a bit more and go for AM5; it looks like the future-proofing option here.
