I'm really considering switching to Linux Mint or something similar for my video editing and gaming needs. I love using Medal for recording, but I know it doesn't support Linux yet. Is there any chance I can get Medal to work on Linux using Wine?

I gave it a shot! Medal installed fine on my Linux setup, but I hit a snag—while I could set everything up, it wouldn't detect my game (Hollow Knight) to record. It showed some weird behavior like a black splash screen initially. I tried running it with Steam under Proton, but it still couldn’t detect the games I wanted to record. I’d still recommend checking out Steam's native recording features—it's a solid alternative if you’re facing issues with Medal.

Honestly, it's a bit hit or miss with Medal running on Linux via Wine. Many users have had mixed results, and it doesn’t seem like it’s fully functional yet. You might want to look into alternatives like OBS Studio or GPU Screen Recorder if you're just looking for recording options, as they work well on Linux.

I can confirm that while Medal does run on Wine, it’s not the best experience right now. I encountered problems with game detection, especially for titles that don’t have a native Linux version. For straightforward recording, Steam’s built-in tools might serve you better if you’re making the transition!
