How Can I Secure My PC After Falling for a Phishing Link?

Hey folks, I recently fell for a phishing link related to RuneScape, and despite changing my password multiple times, it seems like the intruder keeps getting back in. I suspected it could be a keylogger, so I hard reset my PC and reinstalled Windows 11, which seemed to fix things at first. However, today my game PIN was missing again, and now I'm worried. I'm looking for advice on how to check for keyloggers or any other threats on my computer. It's strange because they only seem to target my RuneScape account; my Steam and email are untouched, which makes me question whether it's actually a keylogger. I'm hoping for tips to secure my PC further, as this situation is really stressing me out, especially since I almost lost some money. I'm also sorry for the lack of punctuation; I struggle with dyslexia!

It's good you reinstalled Windows; that usually helps shake off persistent malware. But to be extra safe, consider resetting your game accounts as well. Look into security settings on those accounts for any additional protection. Sometimes enabling alerts for logins can also help catch intruders if they try to get in again. Keep an eye on your system performance too—unusual slowness can sometimes indicate things aren't right.

Sounds like a rough situation! First off, always ensure to change your passwords and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) wherever possible. It adds a layer of security. As for detecting keyloggers or remote access tools (RATs), consider running a full antivirus scan with reliable software and check for any suspicious applications in your task manager. A good anti-malware tool can help identify these threats as well. Also, keep your system updated to patch any vulnerabilities.

Thanks for the advice! I'll make sure to do that when I get back to my PC.

Great tip on using antivirus! Also, don't forget to check your startup programs—sometimes malware tries to run when you boot up.
