I'm looking to upgrade from my HDD to an SSD and I've hit a bit of a snag regarding compatibility. The Sandisk Ultra 3D SSD doesn't list any specific OS compatibility on the packaging, whereas the Western Digital SA510 mentions it's only compatible with Windows 10 and 11. Moreover, there's no clarity on their product pages about compatibility either.
Right now, I'm using Windows 7 Professional SP1 but plan to upgrade to either Windows 10 or switch to Linux soon. If I buy one of these SSDs now, will I encounter any issues running Windows 7 before I switch to a new OS? Also, are there SSDs out there that work well with Windows 7?

I have the SA510, and it actually runs fine even on Windows XP. My guess is that most SSDs work well with Windows 7 since it supports TRIM for SSDs, which is a good thing!

But why does WD say it only works with Windows 10? Is there some software for the SSD that won’t work with older systems?
