Is It Too Late for Me to Start Programming at 18?

Hey everyone, I'm 18 years old and I've always had a fascination with computers since I was a kid. Even before I could walk, I was drawn to them, but I've never really had the chance to learn programming until now. The language barrier held me back because I didn't speak English, and my school didn't support my interests, so I eventually had to hire a personal teacher. Over the last 2-3 years, I've improved my English a lot, but there's still this worry about my math skills since I really struggled with math in school. I gave up on it due to some bad experiences with teachers and didn't learn much since 4th grade. I've heard that programming, especially ethical hacking, requires math, and I'm determined to start over with math from the basics. I know there's a lot of resources available. I feel like my brain is a bit rusty since I haven't been active in a while, but I really want to dive into programming—am I too late to start?

It's definitely not too late! I started learning programming at 21 and after 4 years, I became a full-time developer. If you're passionate about it, just go for it! You can learn anything as long as you're willing to put in the effort.

Honestly, I don’t think age is an issue at all. Have you decided on a programming language yet? I'd recommend Python as a great starting point!

Definitely Python! It's beginner-friendly and has a lot of resources.

Just to throw this out there: liking games doesn’t mean you’ll like coding, but if you’re interested, that’s a great sign! I suggest starting with the basics of programming like variables and functions. You don't need to know everything at once; just take it step by step!

Yeah, focus on the fundamentals first. Once you're comfortable, you can build your own projects!

Seriously, don't stress about age; even if you were 30, it wouldn’t be too late to start. What's important is your interest and determination. Plus, you’re already taking steps to improve your skills with math—that's awesome!
